利用重液或重悬浮液实现矿石按密度分选的设备。其种类繁多，主要有锥型重介质分选机、鼓型重介质分选机、重介质振动溜槽、重介质旋流器和重介质涡流旋流器等五类。前两类属于静态分选设备，后三类属于动态分选设备。静态分选设备按容器深度尚有深槽型和浅槽型之分。
